First, check your yard space to be sure that the playhouse you select will fit the way you want it to. Be sure to check the height as well to see if there are any trees that could be obstructed or get in the way. Keep in mind that any of the plans can be modified to include storage space if they don’t have it already. If you wish, a playhouse can be built against a garage wall that has no windows, so the storage area is accessible through the garage. For anyone interested in building a castle, you can save money on the stucco and stone by making your own “stone” from foam and latex paint or painting your own stones right on the building. He suggested that if you would like a stain glass window in your playhouse, without the expense of actual stain glass, check out the web site of Plaid products (found in most craft stores). They offer a do-it-yourself stain glass window that although it cannot be exposed to the outside elements it is lovely. It looks great even behind an outside window. A little molding goes a long way toward making a playhouse even more like home. It is a good idea to use acrylic-plastic windows instead of glass, wherever possible, for safety. Include your kids in decorating or even in building. It makes for wonderful memories. Think about putting a growth chart for your kids along one of the doorways in the playhouse. It will be fun to look back on later, especially for your grandchildren. Remember, it never hurts to ask questions!! |
